Food Revolution Day Orlando Brings Together Area Food Community For Families

Over the years I have always loved food – preparing it and sharing it with love. However, when I began cooking for my now three-year-old daughter (and was diagnosed with asthma at the same time) the quality of the food I cook and share became a major daily focus.

Not only has this focus given me the opportunity to learn and better understand what the food we eat does to our bodies and minds, it has shown me the faults that exist in our US agricultural and school systems.

So when the call went out for Food Revolution volunteers earlier this year, I jumped in headfirst!

Food Revolution Day In Orlando

After humbly reaching out to Orlando’s best and most-respected real food organizations – Winter Park Harvest Festival, Slow Food Orlando & Edible Orlando magazine – and being blown away by their generosity and willingness to jump right in, I am so proud of what we put together for Food Revolution Day Orlando.

Our Orlando Food Revolution Day includes tours of the beautiful Winter Park Urban Farm; a farm-to-table cooking demonstration featuring top regional chefs Dawn Viola, Elisa Scarpa and Sarah Cahill; children’s art & planting activities, and family entertainment provided by Florida Hospital’s Healthy 100 and Mission: FIT Possible program; and a food-lovers raffle to benefit the food education box project.

Not only will this event share the Food Revolution that is already occurring in Orlando through the works of each participating organization, it will share with families and the community at large how the pursuit of real, healthy food can be accomplished on a daily basis.

About the Author: Nicknamed “Julia Child” at a young age, Julia Montgomery Stewart is most at home in the kitchen. Lately, she has combined her culinary talents with a new hobby—fitness and healthy living. As a result, her recipes reflect an intriguing balance between eating well without sacrificing flavor. Outside the home, Julia is marketing consultant, and spent the first decade of her career as a publicist before expanding her portfolio of talents with the launch of in 2010. Balancing the busy demands of career and family, Julia is lives with her husband and daughter in Orlando, Florida. In addition to her work in marketing, she serves a number of community organizations and initiatives in Central Florida.
