Food Day 2012 Is This October; Check Out Their Brand New Website With New Resources, Tools and Events Map To Start Planning Your Real Food Celebration!

Food Day, created by our friends at the Center for Science in the Public Interest, is coming up in just a few months on October 24th.

In preparation for the annual nationwide celebration and movement towards healthy, affordable, sustainable food, Food Day has just launched a brand new website! The new and improved, an invaluable organizing and learning tool, contains many new features to make it easier for users to find and share information about food issues, create and sign up to attend Food Day events, and connect with others who share their passion for food issues. has tools for organizing Food Day events, healthy and tasty recipes, blog posts with stories from Food Day’s national partners and local organizers, and a national map of all the Food Day events taking place this year. To help organizers build unstoppable campaigns, social media engagement is woven throughout the site; create a profile and share the content you love across social media to spread the real food movement!

Food Day brings together organizations and individuals working on food issues as varied as hunger, nutrition, agriculture policy, animal welfare, and farmworker justice. While it might only be one day, we believe that a day of action can ignite a fire for change - empowering, educating and inspiring people across the nation to help make a difference. That’s why earlier in the year we held our first ever Food Revolution Day, a day dedicated to standing up for real food.

This year, Food Day will take place just 12 days before the 2012 elections, providing an opportunity for citizens to make their voices heard on, and for candidates to discuss, important food policy issues.

Activities are already been planned all across the country and earlier in the year, the U.S. Conference of Mayors adopted a resolution declaring October 24 as Food Day!

In Austin, TX, this year, organizers are planning a citywide celebration focusing each of the five days on a different Food Day priority. Well FED Savannah is planning their second annual community-wide Food Day festival, with an expected attendance in the thousands. The festival will include planning workshops, lectures, panel discussions, live music, and great food for the event in collaboration with local businesses and Food Day Grand Strand, an organization which was created last year based on collaborations made around Food Day, will be organizing a major event in Myrtle Beach, SC. Check out to see what else is happening.

We believe that food education is at the heart of making a difference. Food Day also speaks to this cause, celebrating real food and helping to solve food-related problems. We’ll be supporting Food Day on October 24, will you join us take part in the nationwide celebration and movement towards healthy, sustainable, food?
